UNLV Taekwondo

Our Story

We have worked extremely hard after the pandemic rebuilding reestablishing ourselves on campus as getting engaged with our local community. So far, we are proudest of being able to... | Send 17 members to the club's first competition, the 2021 Las Vegas Open | Secure budgets to invest in new equipment | Successfully hold belt promotions each semester | Compete in the 2022 AAU Nationals, and placing 5 bronze, 1 gold

Our current goals: | Compete in collegiate events | Continue to expand our active members, and give them access to equipment and opportunity

What we do on the regular: Practice, practice, and a little bit of fun afterwards. We meet two times a week all semester, except finals. Our schedule mainly consists of a day practice forms and technique, and a day dedicated to sparring. Outside these sessions, you can recognize us at school events or grubbing at local restaurants

What we hope to offer our members: | Opportunity to compete in local tournaments Our officers work hard throughout the semester to secure a budget through the Sports Club Council to help fund us going to competitions. We want to be able to provide for our member's dedication to practice and their drive to compete at higher levels. | Belt promotions We work closely with a local Taekwondo school so our students have the ability to advance in belt ranks. | A place to relax UNLV Taekwondo offers an environment open to everyone of various levels and backgrounds. As a club, we get together for outings or events.

“I joined UNLV Taekwondo because it gave me a new chance to train after being injured doing Taekwondo 6 years ago. Ever since I joined, I have a renewed sense of purpose, made a ton of new friends who have the same interests, and get more exercise in at the same time! This club is full of great people who will make you laugh and feel welcome!"
